Returning 'CSI' star Jorja Fox drops in on 'Drop Dead Diva show'

It was onlya matter of time before Jorja Fox found herself in a pair of handcuffs. The off-again, on-again "CSI" star makes a guest appearance on Lifetime's 'Drop Dead Diva show' Sunday at 9 p.m., playing a soccer mom with a felonious past. "I've been trying to get into an orange jumpsuit for years," Fox told the Daily News. "I hope I pulled it off."
"I've had dreams of doing some type of a romantic comedy for years," she said. 'William Petersen' [who played 'CSI's' Gil Grissom and myself, we drew on that as often as possible, but 'CSI' isn't really the right genre for romantic comedy."

Fox plays a woman -- from Fresno, as it happens -- who 20 years ago became an unknowing accomplice to a robbery gone fatally bad. Instead of waiting to be charged with the murder, she went into hiding. When her secret life is about to be revealed, she turns to Jane Bingum (Elliott) for help.
"I love playing the other side of the law. But I just kept wondering if I could pull this kind of role off," Fox says during a lunch break telephone interview from the set of "CSI." After a yearlong hiatus, Fox returns this season to the role she played since the crime series launched in 2000
She calls the "Diva" offer a "perfect storm." She had wanted to work with Lifetime, it was a chance to be in a romantic comedy and she was reunited with Josh Berman, the former "CSI" writer and producer who is now an executive producer on "Diva.
"It is never too late to go back and try and start life over. The show talks about how you should never give up and there is a place for second chances," Fox says.

Diva is a legal series on Lifetime from former CSI writer and producer Josh Berman. The show follows the story of a beautiful woman who dies and returns to earth in the body of a plus-sized attorney. Fox will guest star in this week's episode as a woman who has been hiding for 20 years. In the past, the character was an unwitting accomplice to a robbery gone wrong, and in the present she is faced with the consequences of her actions all those years ago. I watched the show yesterday and Jorja was simply awesome From my point of view, Jorja was a not so bad actress that evolved into a great actress during CSI. It is a nice change to see her playing a character different than Sara and I can say the mission was accomplished with honors. As an additional comment, her hair is long again and I really prefer that in her.
About DDD, it is a great series. Finally a plus size woman is the main character in a series (OK, maybe she was not the first but I only recall Rossane) and the actress is amazing, I love her. |
