| Spoiler: The characters Lady Heather and the miniature killer return in season 9 in the lead up to Grissom's departure. "Who better to turn to when you're a scientist in crisis," Mendelsohn said jokingly of Heather (Melinda Clarke).
The air date for William Petersen's final episode, the season's 10th, has yet to be determined but probably will be at the beginning of 2009, the producers said.

| Spoiler:July 18 - Fishbourne And Malkovich Considered 'CSI' seeks to replace Grissom.
As previously reported, the character will start as a professor who specializes in pathology. Eventually, after helping the team solve the case in the two-part episode, the character will become a CSI. "It's all under discussion," said a production source. However, that doesn't mean Petersen will be gone forever. "Billy does plan to come back," the spokeswoman explained, and he will stay on as an executive producer for the show. | Spoiler: LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actor William Petersen's exit from the CBS hit "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" opens the door for a new character to join the show's crime-busting team -- only this one just could be a crazed killer.
Unlike Petersen's character, Gil Grissom, a brainy investigator who heads a Las Vegas crime unit, the show's new addition will be a scientist with a dark secret -- his genetic makeup is similar to that of known killers
"He comes in not immediately as the boss, but he has an interesting genetic profile that in certain sort of medical contexts, they've noticed that many times serial killers have that same genetic profile," Tassler told a gathering of TV critics in Beverly Hills.

William Petersen by Robert Voets/CBS If the season opener of CSI is any indication—CBS gave critics screeners of the episode this week—William Petersen is going to get quite the emotional workout in his final 10 episodes as a series regular. He gives one of his strongest performances to date as he grapples with the aftermath of the climactic shooting of Warrick (Gary Dourdan) in last season’s cliffhanger shocker. The episode also brings Jorja Fox’s Sara (looking softer and prettier) back into the picture, at least temporarily. Follow the link below to read more; | Source:TV guide

| ---------------------------------------------------------- Spoiler:
After years of stability in its lead cast, “CSI” has been rocked by a series of cast changes in the last year or so.
The biggest, of course, is the departure of William Petersen as lead investigator Gus Grissom after Episode 10 of the new season of the hit CBS show. He may return to the show on an occasional basis, but the actor has other projects on the horizon, including a production of “Dublin Carol” at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre this fall.
To fill out the cast, “CSI” will be adding a new character, a doctor with an intriguing backstory who’ll eventually take charge of the investigative unit. I asked executive producer Naren Shankar about what the future held for the show. First I’ll list the newsy bullet points of that conversation, with a longer explanation of the new “CSI” character following that.
* Episode 5 will feature the return of dominatrix Lady Heather (Melinda Clarke). “Grissom spends the night,” Shankar said. “I’m not saying what he’s doing there overnight. Let me tell you, it’ll be by far the most provocative Lady Heather episode we’ve ever done.” * Episode 7 will revolve around Natalie, the Miniature Killer. * For the 200th episode, director William Friedkin is coming back to direct an episode of the show. * Jorja Fox is back as Sara Sidle in the first two episodes, and she’ll be back for several episodes later in the season.

* Petersen will remain an executive producer on the show and “if [a] story line creatively needs Grissom then he’s totally willing to come back and do it,” Shankar said. To read mre follow the lnk below; | Source:Spoilers TV

| Spoiler:Got any more details on Lady Heather's return to CSI? — Christy Ausiello: Yes, but if you're of the opinion that there's only one woman for Grissom and her name rhymes with Farrah then you may want to jump ahead to the next question. According to executive producer Naren Shankar, when Melinda Clarke's dominatrix returns in November to console an in-crisis Grissom, "This will be the most intimate that we have seen them." Shankar's partner in Crime, EP Carol Mendelsohn, takes it a step further, revealing that, "Grissom will go to bed at Lady Heather's. Whether he will go to bed with Lady Heather remains to be seen. But Grissom will spend most of that episode at Lady Heather's."
What kind of "genetic quirk" will Grissom's CSI replacement possess exactly? — Jaime Ausiello: He's going to have some funky (and potentially lethal) DNA. Hint: This isn't the first time a character in the CSI-verse had this specific abnormality. | Source:Source Spoilers TV

| Spoiler: Question: I read your recent Dispatch in which you mentioned screening the premiere episode of CSI's ninth season. I know you are not at liberty to speak of the details, but I would really like to hear more of your opinion on the episode. Was it as good as it should be, following the death (?) of Warrick's character? And I would really like to know how William Petersen was in this episode. Did Grissom finally show strong emotions after such a incident? Considering these will be his last 10 episodes, I would really like to see much more of Grissom's character and see more revelations of his character. I hope CBS allowed the script to take that direction. — Ruth Matt Roush: I don't want to belabor this, since we're still more than two months away from the actual premiere date, and I wouldn't want to speak for someone who feels as deeply about the show and the character as you seem to, but I was more than satisfied and even more impressed than usual by Petersen's performance and by the way the script and the show deals with the fallout of what happens to Warrick. It's pretty intense, and the return of Sara adds even more emotional weight to the episode. Can't say how far they'll continue to explore Grissom's psyche in his remaining episodes as a series regular, but they're off to a promising start.

| William Petersen CSI Exit????
| Spoiler: Ask Matt | 7/21/2008 Q: I read the news that William Petersen will cut back his time at CSI and won't be on air as much through the end of the series. Yet as I read the online reactions, I was surprised the news was taken as Petersen is gone when he isn't. He is just cutting back, which, given how long he has been with the show, does not spell disaster. What is your take to the fan reaction to the Petersen news? A: I haven't been tracking the fan reaction, but I wouldn't be surprised that they're alarmed and.... To read more of the article follow the link below. | Source:TV Guide

| Spoiler:Major Spoiler Pic! Photograph of Grissom & Warrick from the first episode for Warrick.
These photos seen here, and on the linking page below, are not taken from the version of the episode that will air in October. My information comes from someone who has seen the actual episode as distributed to TV critics nationwide. The photos do approximate the relative positions of the two characters at some point during the filming of the episode, if not the actual emotion on Grissom's face that will be portrayed in the actual episode that will air. It is fair to assume that these are merely outtakes shots only, and that they will not appear in the episode 9.01 For Warrick. Information added - 20th August 2008 - 5pm GMT bygsrbritfan

| Spoiler:CSI: Mixed Reactions to Fishburne Replacing Petersen
Finally, it has been confirmed that Laurence Fishburne of the iconic Matrix film series will be replacing William Petersen as the head honcho for CSI when he leaves some time next season. Rumors began circulating as early as mid-July to last week, but everything's been drowned by pre-Olympics buzz. To kind of appease his loyal and massive fan base (some of whom view Petersen as the very heart of CSI), the producers promised that he will return for occasional guest appearances as Gil Grissom after his last episode, the tenth in the season.

| Spoiler:Major Spoiler! The GSR is brief, but wonderful. Sara appears at the end of Act II. Grissom, who, btw, looks very hot in this episode as he goes through a range of emotions we've never seen from him before (far more than in Dead Doll) has had to strip off his shirt because it's evidence. So he puts on his dark blue CSI windbreaker. We see him from the back walking through the halls of the lab and into his office. Sara is there, leaning against his desk, looking much prettier and softer than in previous seasons. Grissom stops in his tracks. They just regard one another for a few seconds, then embrace. Sara tells him she caught the first plane out (We have to assume Grissom called her, but we aren't privy to the call). Her voice is very shaky. Grissom says nothing. They just continue to hold one another. Their facial expressions say everything. Cut to commercial.
Then the team walks in and what follows is a very cheesy mass reunion with a win-one-for-the-Gipper speech at the end from Nick. It was the only scene I thought badly conceived. "For Warrick -the premiere of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's ninth season, will air on CBS October 9. Writer and producer David Rambo described the episode to GSR forever as "devastating to watch, beautifully done in every respect." Gil Grissom (William Petersen) is scheduled toleave the show on a full-time basis after the tenth episode of the season. Rambo wouldn't reveal any details about Grissom's departure. "I can only say, 'Don't miss it!'" he urged.

| Spoiler:Major episode 9.01 For Warrick Spoiler!
Continued from spoiler above & same information source; What follows is part of the full scene leading up to the opening credits -- from the show, not from any CBS promos. (I obtained a loan) the DVD of the episode as it was distributed to TV critics by CBS.The full episode. Unless CBS pulled a fast one for some reason, an expensive and destructive thing to do, what I saw is the episode as it will air. Private sources own words. A man's voice is calling in an "officer down" alert to the cops, and we see Jeffrey McKeen walking away from Warrick's car as he makes the call.
Cut to: Grissom is standing at an outdoor newsstand, flipping through a magazine (Traveler). His car windows are open (I think this must be his personal car, not the crime lab's SUV), and he has a hand-held police radio on the passenger seat. The radio is calling for units to respond to the officer down call just received. At first, Grissom is paying only half attention. Then, as he realizes the gravity of the call and the fact that the location is near his, he walks toward his car to hear better. When the location is repeated, he glances up the street, realizing it's where he's just come from.
Cut to: the bottom of the alley with Warrick's car about 30 yards away. Grissom appears there and studies the car for a moment, then starts running full tilt toward it. When he gets there, he looks in the open passenger window and sees Warrick as we left him in May. He hauls the door open and ducks inside and studies Warrick for a second (we don't see it, but he might be checking for a pulse at the neck). He then wrestles Warrick's body out of the car and lays him on the ground, calling his name. Warrick chokes out blood on the front of Grissom's shirt, and Grissom takes off his jacket and puts it under Warrick's head. | Spoiler:Lady Heather gives the team a clue about some needle marks that were found on their victims chest.
The Las Vegas crime lab consults an old friend when their investigation takes an unusual turn.
According to CSI Files sources, the fifth episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's ninth season will be called "Of Inhuman Bondage". A man named Ian Wallace is found dead in the desert, and his girlfriend Justine Stefani is missing. The CSI team finds indentations in the wall at Ian's house, a bloody t-shirt in the clothes hamper and a biological sample on the floor near the television.

McKeen then comes back towards the car. Warrick's eyes go wide and he tries to say something to Grissom, but he has no voice (Presumably his vocal chords have been severed by the gunshot wound to his neck) When Grissom bends down to hear better and says “What” McKeen puts his hand on his sidearm, apparently ready to shoot both Grissom and Warrick, However Warrick can only choke up blood, and he starts fading. Grissom looks up at McKeen (though not as shown in the first promotional pictures to be leaked) and demands “Where are the paramedics” McKeen walks off and calls them, and we hear sirens in the background. Grissom pleads with Warrick to hold on, to fight “Fight for me Warrick” he says. Grissom is trying to hold the throat wound closed with his hands. Warrick dies in Grissom's arms, and Grissom quietly says “No”, he then lifts Warrick's head and shoulders into his arms and holds the dead man to his chest.
Zoom in on Grissom's face, sad angry and in shock.
